bootable external hard drive

Hello,

I have an external hard drive where I want to install Windows. Can anyone please suggest any good software or even any script that can burn a bootable image to an external hard drive.

Thank you.

i dont think windows can run from a live-usb. also since microsoft windows is proprietary it mite be considered piracy or theft to copy to an external drive. if you bought and own a legit copy of a windows cd-rom from a store then i beleive you should be able to install it (like any normal os).

i think you need to go to a windows forum for more specifics since linux isnt related to windows.

edit: if you are looking for a linux program to copy a windows disk then look into dd. but check the eula first.

There are zillion instructions on google
https://www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&...s+to+usb+drive

If you want to do it exactly from linux, you have to have ready to use Windows installation that you could move to external drive (e.g. by rsync), install there grub and configure it.

It kind of violates the LQ terms and we really shouldn't assist. MS doesn't want you to run from an external drive.

One may be able to legally create a VM in linux and have some storage anywhere that contains a legal copy of windows.
