AFAIK you can just use cdrecord as you do when you burn normally. My CDs are bootable and I just do something like "cdrecord -v dev=/dev/cdrom ...". Have you tried and failed?

Many times, lots of cd's, I can boot a kernel but have had trouble mounting a file system, and even if I could I would know what to mount, I can build a system that boots from hard drive but not cd, what I am really looking for is a howto for 2.6 kernel and udev
