Boot Problem (suse 82)
Well, I haven't checked this again but
on my first install of 8.2 with net working, I pressed the off button on my comp instead of the shutdown via linux Shut down , and when I turned the computer back on it booted in txt mode, and KDE would not start ! any fixins ? I did not try this again, as it made me uninstall the partion and re-install to get it working . so im not messing with it , im going to leave it on always. unless I get a fix. |
" im going to leave it on always."
Just shutdown with the shutdown command and you won't have any problems. |
Does it get to the login prompt or does it say something about kernel panic?
If you are getting a login prompt but no X login you probably just need to run the X configuration again. Login with root at the console and they do "sax2" this will run the X configuration for SuSE. Then do a proper shutdown. ;) |
It leets me login, but it doesn't load KDE,
it says things like: KDE panic, and it says files not found , and then X server something ! it then goes to text and says: Linux Login: then Linux Password: HAve FUn (even if you enter the wrong password) then the only command I can use is YAST if i type kde, it says above.! |
