Question boot of linux

hello, I have a problem, I installed linux (read hat 7.2) and when I boot linux (with XOLS, because I have windows in the begin to my alone hard disk) I have a error message after 10 seconds : "kernel panic" who stop the boot. Please if you know my problem and one sollution, can you help me?

Why? Ahtlon or duron aren't compatible whit linux?

Linux runs great on AMD CPUs!!!!
I should have asked is "APCI" is enabled in the BIOS - which is more for intel cpus - i think... could eb wromg.but please check that in the BIOS.
