Boot Logo

So I have recompiled my kernel, and have selected the following options that deal with boot logo/resolution:

Device Drivers ->
Graphics Support ->[*] Support for frame buffer devices[*] VESA VGA graphics support

Console display driver support ->[*] Video mode selection support

<*> Framebuffer Console support
[*]Select compiled-in fonts[*]VGA 8x16 font

Logo configuration->[*]Bootup logo[*] Standard 224-color Linux logo

Now the kernel works fine, linux boots, etc. but when I add 'vga=0x318' to grub in the kernel options, I get a blank screen while linux is booting, until I get the KDE login prompt.

Although I don't think it matters, I'm using debian sarge and the kernel is 2.6.10.

As well, I'm using the default kernel boot logos, so I haven't changed anything in the linux source directory before I compile the kernel.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

hi there,

ok... let's take a look in your grub.conf file...
vesa is a pretty standard driver ... should work with any graphic card..
weird..
