Boot ISO without burning?

Is it possible to boot an iso, maybe using GRUB or something, from the hard drive without burning?... I have a CD iso but only DVD-R!

That doesn't seem possible to me, but I'm still trying to think about why not. With LILO I'd say hell no, but maybe grub would support that.

I don't see why having a CD iso and a DVD-r would be a problem. You ought to be able to write normal cd's too no?

A dvd-r drive will be able to burn a cd-r disc.

You could try qemu, it's an emulator. You can use it to boot a live cd iso before burning it to check it. If youo want to add the iso image to your Grub/Lilo menu so that you can boot your PC using it then I don't think it's possible.

You have too instal vmware workstation program and change settings cd to your iso image and than boot your virtual machine from your virtual cd rom ;)
