Boot form HD??
Ok I am tired of booting SUsE 8.2 from the Live-Eval CD. How do I copy the files from the CD onto the hard drive and then make it boot from there.
Please use some details I am not to familiar with Linux. Thank you. |
I'm not completely sure, but I think you have to create a seperate partition with the proper boot.img on it. Then add that to lilo.
Don't know the details, but it should work. People do this with Knoppix. EDIT: BTW, there are superior versions of linux. Why trouble yourself with SuSE? |
Unless you are particularly enamoured with SuSE Live Eval, then why not get something like Knoppix, or a distro designed to be installed onto the HDD? If you are loving SuSE and you have a broadband connection (or you are very patient) then you can install it over FTP. As for making the Live Eval disc work off the harddrive... I don't think you can do it easily. You'd need to install a bootloader as well as other fiddling about.

I would just install a free distro such as Mandrake or Red Hat.
back up your personal stuff first of course. |
