Boot configuration utility for Kubuntu like OpenSuSE's Yast

Under OpenSuSE there's a section of the Yast configuration program for modifying the boot configuration. Is there something similar for Kubuntu? Of course it's possible to edit /boot/grub/menu.lst, but that's much less convenient, partly but not only because superuser-mode editing requires some amount of ceremony and doesn't provide built-in configuration checking.

Actually I'm running OpenSuSE on two machines and Kubuntu on two others, just so I can compare them. Each has its advantages.
