boot CLI vs GUI
 

i am currently automatically starting gnome on a redhat box and would like it to start up as command line and not run gnome or x unless specifically called with startx.

how do i change that boot option?

edit /etc/inittab and change the default from 5 to 3, it will be documented in the file itself.

OMG how much we forget playing with so many different OS's. I have been looking for 45 minutes on how to do this. Noe I see this post and want to kick myself in the @$$.
