Bochs
I've finally setup bochs, and downloaded a liero (old DOS game) bootdisk, and since it is a .img file i've set it up to boot from that image file directly. Ok no problems so far, liero boots and i can play the game but:
1) It's running pretty slow, i think this has to do with vga refresh rates or whatever in .bochsrc file but i cant figure out a good value, does someone have a value that gives acceptable speed? Also that option is directly dependent on ips (emulated instructions per second) but even for this i can not figure out a good value for my athlon mx 1600+. Also the keyboard wasn't working to my liking but fortunately i've fixed that by hacking through .bochsrc. So please if someione knows correct values for IPS and vga_update_interval let me know.
2) When the emulation starts i get a resonable sized window in which DOS is running, but when i start the game the window automatically resizes and becomes insanely small (i'm able to play only by looking through a magnifying glass) Is there a way to make this window bigger?
And finally, do you reccomend ditching bochs and trying dosemu instead?
Thanks for all the help in advance!
I have dosemu-1.0.2.1-i386-1rob and downloaded liero v1.33 as a zip file.
Uncompressed it and used the command xdosemu and it worked fine without any tuning. ^_^

Isnt Liero great if you have someone to play against. There is also a Linux SDL port of liero called Nil but i couldnt get it to compile. I gave up on Bochs, it works but its unstable, so i too setup DosEmu and now i have dukenukem, wolf3d, liero, and some other coll old DOS games to play!
