bluez-5.46 needs libudev >= 172?

I am trying to install bluez for a new bluetooth usb adapter I got. I am having no luck finding anything online about updating/downloading a newer version. I'll post the error report as well.

Well did you check which, if any, libudev you have installed? You've given very little information. What distro are you running?

MursonThePerson 07-27-2017 05:27 PM

I don't know how to check the libudev version I have. I have linux mint 18.1

TheEzekielProject 07-27-2017 06:18 PM

You could try
Code:

dpkg -L libudev
though if that isn't the exact package name you won't get results. You can check what is in your distros repositories with
Code:

apt-cache search libudev

Question, if you're running mint why don't you just
Code:

apt install bluez
?

jefro 07-27-2017 07:47 PM

Are you saying that you have a current version in and you now what to update to latest?

A package should be in package manager?? https://community.linuxmint.com/software/view/bluez

I suggest that you consider using the package manager as it will help keep system more complete.

It looks like you're installing from source. You don't need to do that. The package you need can be installed using the package manager. You don't need to download it off the Internet.
