Bluetooth - review
Hi!
Concerning Bluetooth there are much unsolved basic questions, especially relating to version higher than 2.0.
Therefore I summarize my practical experience and point to some URLs.
If you have questions, please open a new thread!
Favorable answers (successfully connected via BT 3.0 or 4.0) are welcome as replies.
Approved standards (according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth):
2.1 > July 2007
3.0 > April 2009
4.0 > June 2010
4.1 > December 2013
------------------
Bluetooth manager:
KDE: bluedevil
XFCE: blueman
MATE, Cinnamon: BT manager, alternative: installing blueman
Gnome: BT manager.
------------------
Android is supporting BT 4.0 only on paper. Samsung promises that Galaxy S3 and Note 2 are supporting BT 4.0, but the needed software is missing.
(read on http://www.areamobile.edde/news/2380...auf-dem-papier but: web page newly not loaded!)
Some Notebooks / Netbooks have a BT button, but no built-in BT adapter:
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=133746 Last post of theme "Broadcom BT adapter not detected"
In Puppy (understandable: *.iso less than 170 MB), Fedora, Sabayon Linux BT does not work out of the box.
Problem: Bluetooth release 4.0 in some cellphones (e.g. Samsung) or Ipods; maybe BT is working in a previous version.
