I'd say at least ninety per cent of Mozilla problems relate to plugins and user profile settings so trying that first may (or may not) be a quick win. If it isn't, and
nsContentPrefService.js apparently is a core component, it may be affected by system dependencies. Since you said "
During the last month" you could check which dependencies, for example Xulrunner, were updated. If that doesn't give any clues either you could try
debug logging and file a bug report straightaway.
