blender ERROR file ".Blanguages" not found

./blender

program initially opens to grey screen with small box

ERROR: file ".Blanguages" not found.

program then opens and continues to run as expected.

in terminal window

$ ./blender
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ": 0.0"

Forgive my ignorance.. Im still just a newbie!

The only fix to the problem seems to be starting
Blender from the directory where it has been untarred to...

I guess you have to activate the DRI extension in /etc/X11/XF86Config
^^
