Blacked out options ubuntu 10.10

Since my clean install of Ubuntu 10.10, there is an issue with many apps, (OpenOffice, Synaptic & others)

Problem is options being "Blacked out"

See attached pic

What adjustments can help this?

AMD Athlon 64X2 5200+
1.9 GiB RAM
70 GiB free HD space

I can't tell from the screen shot what exactly you are concerned about. Could you be more specific as to what exactly is blacked out?

Note how the - File Edit Insert Format Table Tools Window Help - options at the top of the screen are smudged brown and bottom line is actually blacked out.

Sometimes it is a brown, other times it is so blacked out until you can't read it at all. When you click on the blacked out portion it is easier to read.

I am including another pic.

I would suggest as a first shot trying other Gnome themes (I'm assuming you are using Gnome, the default desktop environment).

Thank you frankbell

That did it. I changed the theme and it solved the problem.

Thank you very much.

Wow. A shot in the dark hit home.

Glad it's working.

It would be a good idea to mark this thread 'solved' then.

Solved should be in 'thread tools'. 'Thread tools' is at the top right of the 1st post.
