Black flickering of some GTK3 windows

The client areas of windows of some GTK3 applications (e.g. mousepad) flicker on initial display (get filled with black for a half second just after appearing on the screen). Both main windows and dialog windows flicker. This is observed both with desktop compositing enabled or disabled. I'm using XFCE 4.12 on Slackware 14.2. Video driver: xf86-video-vesa. GTK version - 3.18.9.

Are there any ways, including tweaking gtk3 settings, rebuilding affected programs or libraries, etc. to eliminate flickering?

Thanks,
Albert.

yes, i've noticed that too.
gtk3 inisists on adding its own compositing, it seems.
i read somewhere it's possible to disable all "effects" with some setting in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini; maybe this one can help at least partly:
Code:

gtk-enable-animations=0

Many thanks, I'll try this (I'm not on Slackware now).
