Bittorrent experts

I installed BT newest version. and i have the latest version of Python. as far as i know eveyrthing installed with no errors. I have only started one dl for redhat iso's wich i terminated early. when i went to test another torrent(s) it fails now: --responsefile /pathto/file.torrent

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/", line 15, in ?
from wxPython.wx import *
ImportError: No module named wxPython.wx

what i don't understand is this:

# whereis wxPython.wx
wxPython: /usr/lib/wxPython

the file is there - what do i have to do to get BT to see it? should i just install some btgui that fixes all these problems? my guess so far is that i have to edit line 15 or something?

thank you if you can help,

Work around for "No module named wxPython.wx"

Hi there,

I ran into the same problem of "No module named wxPython.wx"

Here is what I noticed....

I am running Mandrake 9.2 RC2. I've tried running, but received the error:
[mike@mdk mike]$
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/", line 13, in ?
from wxPython.wx import *
ImportError: No module named wxPython.wx

After digging around, I noticed that wxPython was installed in /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/wxPython/.

BitTorrent however, is installed in the Pythin 2.3 directory (/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/BitTorrent/)

When I went to run, it uses python 2.3 , and was seeking in the /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/ for wxPython

A work around for me was to copy the entire /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/wxPython/ directory to /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/ directory.

like this:
cp -R /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/wxPython /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/wxPython

This may work for you. Give it a try.
