Better message notification for Pidgin (KDE 4 / Kubuntu 9)

Hi all,

I need some sort of better message notification than I'm currently seeing with Pidgin. Currently If I have a new message, an icon appears in my system tray.

The notification cant be sound based (I'm in an office; sometimes I have my headphones plugged in, sometimes I just have the system muted). I would really like something like Adium's growl announcements where a little message appears in the top right corner for a few seconds, but pretty much anything would be an improvement at this point. Does any one have any suggestions what I can do? A plug-in for pidgin? Some hook into KDE? I need something.
