There's an old joke about this. Windows and UNIX admins argue about GUI vs CLI. Windows admin says: "If I have to add a new user, I do it with a few mouse clicks. Instead, you have to read those manpages for correct program arguments, then type all that by hand in console, it takes much longer." The UNIX admin displays the most evil grin on his face and asks "Wanna race who adds 10000 users faster?"

Why CLI?
because GUI is an additional - and actually very complex - layer. Sometimes it is unavailable. But CLI always work and available (or the system is completely broken)

Ranger and vifm are like Midnight Commander... only for those who prefer vi(m) to EMACS.

For graphical two-pane file managers? Uhm... I'm the wrong person to ask, but Krusader, maybe?
