Unhappy Best POP3 Mail Server Solution

Hello all. I'm thinking of moving my mail server over from Netware 4x to Redhat 7.3. I have samba and vsftp set up on this box already although I don't know what is the best POP3 mail server solution to employ for a small company of 20 employees. I'm thinking over either Qmail with the POP3 daemon or Qpopper. Just to let you know we have to use POP3 here as oppossed to SMTP mail feed. I'm also a bit confused about this whole mail server business on Linux. Even if I go for Qmail do I still need the sendmail MTA running in the background or will Qmail (and other apps) do this themselves. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance

If you go for qmail you don't need sendmail. But depending on the distro it might be difficult to switch MTA!

Ok. I've had a look at that popa3d. Looks pretty useful - thank you for that! At the end of the day all I want is a small,reliable and secure POP3 server - rather like VPOP3 for Windows - which will latch onto the PPP dial out and collect and send mail to our ISP's mail server. Markus1982, I notice that you've got Redhat 8.0. Does this version of rh come with any decent mail server solution other than that awful sendmail?

Hi -

I just installed XMail on my SuSE 8.0 Linux. Works great!

It may be overkill for you as it has _everthing_.

Aloha => Beau.
