Best Live CD Recovery Distro?

I've been researching this for a while now: A live CD that would solve the data recovery misery. A open source software that recovers damaged drives, damaged files, deleted or formatted formatted is a dream for any IT Pro ...even reads NTFS. A good backup plan should be always implemented but users tend to like Microsoft's idea of easy to use which literally translates into "Dear Microsoft customer: please save everything on the on the beautiful Desktop and don't worry about it until it's all gone!... your highly trained IT Pros will take care of it for you"
There are many tools out there but i hope that they would be all combined on a Live bootable CD; that would make a lot easier on a lot of us.

I have researched DistroWatch.com and it looks like there is a lot of Distros for recovery purposes. i just want to hear people's opinions about their experiences; that would probably save some "download time". Any output on this will be highly appreciated.

Ultimate Recovery CD and one of the "forensics" distros.
You need to define "best". What are your performance criteria?
