Best Linux WP for Hyperlinked Docs?
 

I make extensive use of hyperlinks and now want to share these docs with other users on my Red Hat box. I need a Word Processor that does ALL of the following:-

1. Creates quick and easy hyperlinks BOTH to points within the same document AND to other local docs. M$ Word creates hyperlinks within the same doc very easily by just copying the destination text to the clipboard, then putting the cursor at the position required for the link and doing: Edit > Paste As Hyperlink.

2. Navigates easily backwards and forwards along links like Word's Back and Forward buttons on its Web Toolbar

3. Imports M$ Word docs reasonably well, though once I've got the docs working well in Linux I'll bin Word.

At the moment I have to use M$ Word & Windows.
Using M$ Word under CrossOver Office with a multi-user licence might work but its still quite costly, and I'd rather have a totally open, native solution if possible. Many other WPs only do in-doc links via named bookmarks which is a relativley laborious process, and don't have the Back/Forward buttons - do any of these have a way of creating buttons for these functions? Surely theres a Linux WP that'll do this job conveniently (and inexpensively)?

If we think about importing Word documents, the best solution is OpenOffice. I haven't ever tried to paste hyperlinks in OO document, so I can't say much about it (but I think it should be rather good, as it imports Word..).

You might want to check out ABI Word. It saves and imports M$ .doc files very well. I'm not sure about the hyperlinks question but its a small download and a quality piece of open source software (I use it at home on my Linux box and at work on a crappy win 98 box).
