Best linux for skype?


Hello,

which is the best linux distro for skype?

I have tried xubuntu but I didn't make it work - it has some problem with sound. Computer which I use is Sony Vaio vgn-fs395vp.

The problem isn't Linux, the problem is Skype. You'll have similar problems no matter what distro you use, so choose a distro based on other criteria.

Lightbulb Installing Skype with Ubuntu 8.04

I installed Skype on Ubuntu 8.04 but had problems with the sound. Here is how I fixed it.

Go to the Synaptic Package Manager and uninstall Pulseaudio
Then, use the Synaptic Package Manager to install Esound instead

Skype started working when I did that.

yup, I totally agree. skype is an absolutely wacky program, it does very strange things even when you didn't change any settings whatsoever. You roll the dice every time you start it.

I wish there was a better alternative, technically there is ekiga, but for me it has been even more of a PITA.
