Do you want flash and java capable and speed.

I run Dillo for speed. But I have no
Intel 8-series cpu.

You might look into netsurf, kazehakase or midori maybe.

Lynx -- no scripts, no images, no frames, no tasteless CSS. The internet feels very clean in Lynx.

Links -- you can compile it with X support, supporting images, but not scripts or CSS. This is links2 in Debian.

Surf -- WebKit. Debian Wheezy has version 0.4.

Iceweasel / Firefox isn't really slow. The problem is that it comes with opt-out Google spyware. Every time you go to a website, it's sent to Google so they can build dossiers about your browsing habits (and "report attack sites"). Disabling this makes it much faster. Click Preferences -> Security and untick Block reported attack sites / web forgeries.

If you just want to download complete webpages with images then you use wget. It'll download all the images and stuff. And it's the fastest as it doesn't have to render anything.

Try also Luakit and Midori those are lightweight and fast browsers, and available in the Debian repos.

I find that the fastest web browser on Debian is Iceweasel with the following add-ons: addblock plus, noscript, flash-block

You will get significantly bigger performance boost, on the majority of multimedia-rich 2014 websites, from blocking unwanted content vs. switching to a different browser.

Text browsers will of course also be very fast for the same reason.

Second the "addblock plus, noscript, flash-block" part. I have used all other browsers mentioned (many not recently...) and have 2GBs RAM with an i5 (M 460 @ 2.53GHz) personally like HULU and every\any site to work, currently using jessie plus sid but have used Nightly in wheezy (works like a charm anywhere over six months now) so if you like FF give Nightly a try too most are "free."

Can try Ctrl+S or Ctrl+P (but to a file,,,) in Links from what I just tested (but not far) can't save images although don't quote me on that and try looking at each browsers web manuals for there specifics e.g: http://www.netsurf-browser.org/documentation/guide .
