best C ide

Hey guys,
I'm wanting to start delving into the Linux kernel. What's the best IDE for a large C project?
Also-any tips on recent books/pubs that tell about the Linux Kernel?

I've always just used emacs.

AFA linux kernel documentation, apart from reading the stuff in Documentation/*, the O'Reilly books are usually pretty good. Understanding the Linux Kernel, and Linux Device Drivers are probably most suited to any kind of work you're doing.
