best backup to ftp software
I'm looking for software to help me backup selected directories on my hard drive to a ftp. would prefer it to be able to do synchronizing style backups as i don't want to have to transfer all my files each time. As the computer is a notebook it is not on the internet all the time so i'm not sure i want the backup program to run in cron. If it also has a front end GUI for KDE that would be great too. The system i am currently running is SuSE 10.2. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
I've used "lftp" for a similar task, it has a command called "mirror", and you can use an option to only transfer newer files. So a command like "mirror --only-newer sourcedir destinationdir" will do what you want. It doesn't have a GUI though, but I liked that, since it was not very difficult to make a little script to automate the job. I don't know if it's included in the Suse distro, but if it's not, you can get it from the homepage. http://lftp.yar.ru/ |
