So what are the grounds for this expert opinion? Having run personal tests of top-10 AV products? State of their heuristics versus other AV scanners? Best signature set? Fastest updates around? Having an on-access scanner or not? Or just price?..
Most Windows anti virus have a Linux version, even if few people know it. To the AVG or Avast website, grab the free Linux built and run both on you Windows partition, it should remove some viruses.

Why would you even ask that question?
Throughout this site, many posters offer opinions with little support and you seldom ask a question like that, though I have seen you do it before on security-based subjects.
At a minimum, the response given gives the OP something to investigate. In any event, this is a linux site so you'd think OP would know the advice might be a bit spotty.
"What is the best antivirus" is probably the most common question on Windows support sites. I don't think there is a consensus about best, though there is something approaching a consensus about worst (based on system impact rather than efficacy). However a very substantial plurality will say Avast is best based upon a combination of performance and minimal system impact, and price.
Speaking personally, I don't run any antivirus on any of my Windows installations. But, then, I don't allow my Windows installations onto the 'net without a keeper either.

Because I'm interested, maybe I'll learn something new and it also serves as a marker for the OP about reply value. Asking is always good, especially for clarification.

Because they got the best Mark in some independent computer magazines, for example c't, com!, CHIP, ...
And, how I said, avast! is totally free (the free version, of course), and GData is the best if you are not afraid to pay a bit.
