Unhappy Best 64-bit release?? Early Experiences

Hello All ---

Well being a Linux newbie, I have been trying to get my new 64-bit system, an Abit AV8 MOBO, with a 3500+....going with SuSE 64 bit.

Lots of problems, but mainly appears to be centered around the chip set and video card. I have no problem per se, when loading the SuSE 32 bit version 9.1...so there are differences.

Wonder if anyone having similar problems like me, with the system unable to hold video settings when rebooting for the first time. It loses it --- but the graphics run fine during the install process.

Sound familiar to anyone??? Sure would like to get it going --- but just not sure what to do....also ANY OTHER 64 BIT PACKAGES out there yet ???

Many Thanks --- LB

Fedora has a 64-bit version which I have heard is running quite well.
A few buggs, but I think they got most of them.
Check it out at www.fedoraforum.org (check under forum--> 64-bit)

Thanks!!!!

Hey, thanks for the info. I would really like to stick with the Fedora Core for 64 bit systems, and this sounds like they are getting "with the program".....I hope too they are not just rubber-stamping the 32-bit versions, because of the uniqueness of the 64-bit chip sets, etc.

I will start the download and let all know how it works out.

Regards / Thanks --- LB ---- !!
