Benchmarking Linux
Is there a de facto standard suite of benchmarking tools for Linux? What tools are most commonly used for running benchmarks?

You might also want to have a look at Phoronix, and if it does turn out that you wanted to benchmark some subsystem, you might like to say what that was.
