Beginner: restarting smbd to get new user athenticated
I have had a look at the samba discussions on this forum, but I can't find anything about restarting samba. I have a lot of people on a network using a linux machine as a print server. I have just added a new user to the machine and created a Samba account, but authentication is failing - (/var/log/smb says that the user isn't in the UNIX password database, even though she is clearly visible in /var/log/messages). Anyway, I would like to restart cleanly rather than doing killall smbd && smbd. Is this a standard thing to do after adding a new samba user?
many thanks, Chris |
you can type smbd stop then smbd start
you could also type restart smbd |
well I restarted the demon process a few times, but still no joy.. Anyway, I'm gonna be away from the office for the next 5 days, so I'll have to put this one on hold for now ! :)
thanks Christo |
