Becoming "a member of a domain"

im trying to setup my network so that when you log into one of my computers it logs into a roaming profile so i can log into any machine with the same u/p, home dir etc. im using VASC but im not sure how to make my win2k machine a "member of my domain" instead of a member of a workgroup.
does anyone know about "domains" (right click on my computer > propeties > network identification) do i have to setup anything special on my server?

any help would really be apricated . thanks in advance, Ben.
