Basic Programs for Linux
I´m using Fedora and I´m wondering how will I play my flac files and my 1080p movies ( I´ll google my self but I want to hear your experience with linux and the tasks I´m trying to perform, there are sure a lot of soft for this tasks but I´m asking in your opinion)
Basically I´m looking for : -Word Proccesor,Presentation, etc (open office, latex, I don´t clearly understand the difference between these two) -Flac,Mp3,etc Player (Maybe tell me wich one is the lest cpu consumer cons and pros preferably with a GUI) -Video Player -Codecs for linux for the Video player ( or does the video player have the codecs already ?) -Something similar to Playonlinux but for software (there are some softwares I really liked to install but are only on windows) -Web Browser(chrome, firefox, etc, wich one is better or less cpu consumer) Thanks in advance, tell me your experiences with the soft you use for those tasks. |

You might also look into Crossover, which is a commercial version of Wine, sort of like a souped-up version of PlayOnLinux. Quote:

Winrar is also available for Linux, but I'm not sure if the Linux version has a gui or not. Quote:

Rather than asking for opinions, read the various docs available for Fedora.
