Basic 2D floor plan software
 

Greetings,
I am looking for something very simple, it does not need any fancy rendering etc just some thing that will enable me to take for example a blocks representing a 2x1 meter stoves etc and move them around a room.

I was thinking about using the diagram editor that came with Dropline Gnome but I can't see a way to print from it.
Any suggestion will be very much appreciated. Let me stress that this can be very very basic, I just need to pass along a roughish guide to the designers, the alternative will be paper, scissors and glue :D

If you want to keep it simple, what about MS Paint? :D

Seriously, the easiest and safest solution to this is the GIMP. (avoiding dependency hell)

Just create each item of furniture on a seperate layer (as simple as going to "layers" and clicking "new layer", then that way, each item is on a seperate sheet of acetate if you will, and they can all be moved independently.

This also has the advantage that I've never had the GIMP fail to install yet, even on Slack 9.1 it went like a dream, and you also have an extensive availibility of information on the web.

Linux Floor Plan Software
 

EZBlueprint has a version of their Floor Plan Software made for Linux. It is made only for 2D floor plans. It is very simple (basic walls, doors, windows, symbols, dimension lines). It is good for office and home layouts. Here is the download link:
