bash: ./autogen.sh: No such file or directory ??????

Hi all

I'm trying to install compiz and xgl on my Suse 10.0 based laptop. I'm following the instructions on the freedesktop.org site here and all went well until I tried to build compiz....

I have done everything on the page, but when it instructs me to do the following:

Quote:
PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/Xgl/lib/pkgconfig ./autogen.sh --prefix=/opt/Xgl --with-gl-libs="/tmp/Mesa/lib/libGL.a -pthread -ldrm"
I get the error message:
Quote:
bash: ./autogen.sh: No such file or directory
I don't understand this. Is a file called ./autogen.sh missing? If so, where from??

I get the same error message when trying to build xgl

Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, there is a file named autogen.sh missing from the directory you're in when you issue the command. Of course, those instructions may very well be outdated. The webpage you're using hasn't been updated since April. Finally, can't you install Xgl/Compiz and family using the SuSE package manager?

Arow - YaST didn't list any xgl or compiz packages. However, I searched and found a repository, but if I try to install anything, the list of conflicts is horrendous. Maybe I'll wait until 10.2 comes out....

unSpawn - sorry, I don't fully understand that link. I tried to run the commands in a shell but got errors. As above, maybe I'll wait for 10.2 ......

Thanks for the help though

Maybe these instructions will be more fruitful.
