backup for MS Exchange server

hello! what programs (utilities) do i need if i want to have a linux server as a backup in case our MS Exchange server goes down? Postfix, Exim, and Qmail? Not sure how it all fits together..is MS Exchange just a POP3 server that relays messages and just looking for an equivalent POP3 server for linux? any help is much appreciated..

so basically the linux server will need to support Outlook clients using Outlook 2003 in case the MS Exchange dies or link goes down to it (disaster recovery)
