backup exec linux agent

I am attempting to install the backup exec linux agent on a server running Debian -- although this is not "officially" supported I am sure it can be done. I, however, am not having any luck and was wondering if anybody has successfully done this?? Is there something that needs to be configured on the backup server as well as the client?? or do you only have to configure the client??

Backup Exec -- 10
W2k3 Standard
Debian Sarge 3.1

As always any help is mucho appreciated

Chad

I actually just have the Linux machines run a cron job to tar and copy to a Windows share, then just let the Remote Agent for that Windows server do its thing.

Thank you for the suggestion -- however -- I have about one TB per server that needs to be backed up and the process of tarring and copying would create a substantial bottleneck in the backup scheme as a whole.
