azureus: java: command not found?


hi there:

i am running gentoo and have just emerged Azureus. on starting azureus, i got the following message:

/usr/bin/azureus: line 42: java: command not found

i wonder if anyone could tell me what this is. also, what are the good bittorrent gui to use?

sounds like you've not installed java..... kinda speaks for itself really.

i just use btdownloadcurses.py.. does everything i need...

This is a very good BT GUI, but you probably need to have Java in your path.
Could you please post the output of these:
Code:
echo $PATH
locate java
The second of those is going to yield a LOT of results, so if possible, could you truncate them to a readable form.

I could never get that to work - wxPython errors, so I gave up on it.

thanks for your replies

i have installed java through emerge.


i just thought i will try starting azureus as root and it works. and after that, i now can start azureus as normal user, not usre why. however, azureus asked me to update certain components and i clicked on update and now azureust quits after starting. the error says:


java: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libswt/gnome/gtk-3106.so: undefined symbol: gnome_vfs_init

wxPython? it's just a curses UI.... no wxanything

That one requires wxPython

But it can't do half the things Azureus can. Atleast not that I know of. Stuff like downloading just one file from a torrent that contains many. And prioritizing pieces within a torrent. Use that stuff all the time. Also, I only have to open one port for Azureus.
