axyftp doesn't view local files

short: axyftp-gtk 0.5.1 doesn't view local files, only remote. On 2 debian machines. Only views local files when I have login.app installed and running.

Hi,

I try to use the ftp program axyftp-gtk 0.5.1. I have it installed on 2 "debian testing" systems here at home. A p1 166mhz and an athlon 2200, xfree86 4.3, fluxbox devel, ...
The problem I have with it is that it doesn't view the local files. It does view the remote files on the ftp servers. I have searched the net for a long time, the man page of axyftp, ... but I didn't find any mention of someone having the same problem.
The strange thing is that it does view the local files when I have the session manager login.app installed. Which I removed a week ago. Now I just don't use a session manager.
It didn't view local files when I used KDM on my athlon either.

I don't understand why it does view local files when having login.app running in the background. But without login.app it doesn't.

Is there someone who can point me in the right direction of solving this problem?

thx for your attention,
gunnix

edit. I also want to say that there is no error message when starting from a terminal...

Ok I found out how to fix this problem. It turns out that I can see the local files when I start axyftp like this: "LANG=POSIX axyftp". It seems like axyftp doesn't work with many locales.
But at least I got it working now. I haven't found any other good ftp (gtk1 or fltk) client

grtz
