Avidemux - Adding end credit to existing video

I have a video I've created but want to add a full screen credit to the end of it, so the video fades to black and the credit fades in. It holds for a few seconds, then the credit fades out and the video stops.

Is this something I can create in Avidemux itself, or do I need to use a different software utility to create the text, then import it into Avidemux? And how do I get it to "hold" for a few seconds?

I can see under video filters the ability to add subtitles to the existing video, and the option to fade out the video at certain frames as well, but this isn't quite what I want!

Is Avidemux the best tool to do this kind of thing, or would another Linux utility be better?

Thank you for any advice you can give.

I usually use Kdenlive to do such things. Just put video and end credits onto two video tracks then use fade to black/fade from black and voila'

Got to find an application to make the credits with, first! Am currently fiddling with OpenShot, but I shall also look into Kdenlive as well. Thanks.

if you don't use qt/kde, i've read about pitivi, which is pretty similar and uses gtk+ (gstreamer under the hood)
