AVG anti-virus for Linux

I am trying to install AVG anti-virus 7.0 for Linux on a Slackware 10.1 machine.

I downloaded the avglinux-7.0-15_avi0463.i386.tar.gz file, unpacked it and ran the install script. It installed the command line virus scanner (avgscan), but it didn't install the GUI version of the program. The manual lists several dependencies that are required, the one required for the GUI is PyGTK:

Quote:

The AVG for Linux Workstation graphical user interface is implemented using PyGTK widgets: verify that the system is provided with the PyGTK Python module; versions 2.0 and higher are currently supported. Also, the libglade and pygtk-libglade libraries versions 2.0 and higher must be installed on your computer. Again, all these modules and libraries are standard parts of most current Linux distributions. If you do not have the required PyGTK module or pygtk-libglade library version, you can download them from http://www.pygtk.org for free and install them, following the instructions included in the installation package for your Linux distribution. The libglade library can be downloaded and installed in the same manner from http://glade.gnome.org.
I have PyGTK installed at /usr/local/lib/pygtk and libglade is at /usr/lib/libglade, but for some reason the GUI version of AVG isn't installing. It should be in /opt/grisoft/avg7, but it's not there.

I can't seem to find pygtk-libglade, although I thought that was part of the pygtk package.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Well, this is a trial version anyway. They want money for it after 30 days. 30 days for a trial version in an operating system with few viruses. I don't think they have their heads on straight. They don't charge for the windows personal use version and they shouldn't be charging for the linux side of things.

Not only that, but the command-line version is very buggy. When you scan you scan it all and this program bombs out due to how it can't resolve pathing properly.
