avahi & dbus issues on Gentoo

My avahi-daemon won't load up, it's reporting:
Code:
avahi-daemon[7944]: dbus_bus_get(): Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
So I checked..... /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket exists, but it's a link..that doesn't link anywhere. And I have no idea where it's supposed to link to.
