Automating tasks
Hello my teachers, this time I feel I can maybe contribute something instead of asking for help.
I have just replaced my desktop (from Intel NUC, to a HP Elitedesk 800 G6).
With my old pc, I used the Task Scheduler to automate my daily backup, it used to work, almost each day, but at times it didn't, or it was firing up at strange times, NOT at what I set it up.
This is executed through a cron job.
When I installed again KDE Plasma 5.23.3 on this new machine, the function of Task Scheduler was missing, it showed up again after 3 days, setup the same cron job, but it never worked, tried to check the logs, nothing.
Then, I bumped into this app, it works each day, at the set time, creates an entry into a text file that I setup, just magic... It is called KAlarm.
Hope someone here can find use in it.
Cheers
Alex

Which distro?
On a systemd distro, I'd write a shell script that's executed by a systemd timer.
See 'man systemd.timer'
Otherwise, check if cron is working at all?

If it is only for backups try "back in time". Nifty little program as a frontend for rsync.

Cron is running, based on messages in Syslog
Thanks

That is the version of KDE. The distro is different and may be Mint, Ubuntu, Debian, or many others with various versions of each available.

KDE Plasma is a desktop environment. It runs on numerous distros.
The distro you're running (unless you've changed recently) is KDE Neon. (Which is essentially the latest KDE Plasma running on Ubuntu LTS.)
This isn't the first time this has come up, so it would be a good idea to Edit Profile and put "KDE Neon" in the "Distribution" field to reduce future confusion.
