Smile automatic user account creation in mail server

I am using a Devcot mail server( i am yet to configure it).
Can anyone tell me if i can automatically create usera ccount(mailboxes) through my java program. In actuallity if i create a folder for the user in his name in the specific directory (mentioned in devcot) thru my java program, does my account become active to send and receive mails.

I found this piece of information from their documentation..

From the dovecot documentaion in their website

Creating new users
Dovecot is interested in only one thing - being able to find the user's
mail directory. With maildir you need to do mkdir ~user/Maildir, with mbox
mkdir ~user/mail.

If any one have used this ..pls tell me if this will work.

Secondly is there any authentication mechanism, that my java program will have to encounter while creating a new user in devcop.

Pls tell me if the above will work.
