Autofs Questions- options: map versus mount and time limit local

in the man page of
auto.master it states:

options
Any remaining command line arguments without leading dashes (-)
are taken as options (-o) to mount. Arguments with leading
dashes are considered options for the maps.

Since the options are grouped together, what would be the difference
between options for the map versus options for the mounts? Example,
how would -strict effect the map and mounts and how would
strict(without the -) effect the map and mounts?

Also, is there a way to place a time limit on individual mounts rather
than global(from the config file)? I tried this with ',timeout 5' on
the option line of the actual filesystem being mounted but did not
have success so I am not sure if I used the correct syntax/directive.
