AutoFS can't mount
 

I am trying to mount drives using autofs. There are 3 directories that I want to mount: home, data, and web. The mount for /home works but data and web don't work. When I mounted /data and /web manually, the shares showed up. Below has the log:

According to that, it successfully mounted the /web mount. Same for /data. I don't actually see anything in this bit of log that points to any failures. Maybe post the log from when you attempt to access as it might give more information as to the exact nature of the failure.

Would be nice to explain how did you try to mount manually and what does "the shares showed up" means. How do you know it worked for /home?

You are right. There was no error. The automount only takes place when I accessed the directory

That is the point in automount. To only mounts things when they're needed. It mounts on access automatically and after some period of dis-use unmounts automatically as well.

You can try the -browse map option (in auto.master).
Then it will show all directories; the not mounted ones will have arbitrary attributes.
