Autofs and automount

I'm having a problem getting autofs installed to begin with. I use Slackware 10 and have downloaded the package, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Maybe I am just missing a step. I run ./configure, make, and then make install, but I get an error on make install. I also tried installing the package using installpkg, but it doesn't seem to work. I do not see an rc.autofs file in rc.d, but is this because I have to create it myself?

I know there is not inet.d in Slackware and I'll probably have to use rc.local or something like that, but I can't get past the autofs install part. Anyone able to assist me?

Thanks in advance.
