Auto Start Programs for Any X
I was wondering how I can automatically start applications such as evolution and amule upon logging in using gdm. I read that you could do this by using ~/.Xclients, but I have so far been unsuccessful at making it work. Also, I want this for all desktop environments, not just KDE or GNOME. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

hmmm...well I run fluxbox and you can add something like:
gaim & to your .xinitrc file in your home directory and that will make gaim start automagically when X starts. Not sure if this works with gdm though. |
Thanks. But it doesn't. xinitrc is for startx only.

I know kde has an ~/.kde/Autostart start directory that you can put in shell scripts to run when kde starts. Maybe there is an option for all desktops somewhere.

Thanks redazz. But I want to be able for the application to run regardless of which desktop environment he uses (KDE, Gnome, Fluxbox), etc.
