Auto select all in firefox address bar

This is pretty simple. In windows when I click on the address bar in firefox the entire address is automatically selected so that if I type something, anything that was on the address bar is deleted. I just installed a fresh ubuntu and there if I want to type a new address I need to select all using a keyboard shortcut or just manually deleting everything that is written or else everything I type will be appended to the current address.

I am not sure if this is an ubuntu setting or a firefox one but how do I make the text be auto selected when I click on it?

Click on the favicon just to the left of the text in the address bar.
This will select the entire URL.

I know just what your talking about. Try this plugin:
Creates a button that clears the url input bar when pressed. This can be useful, for instance, if you're running *nix and use highlight-to-copy and middle-click-to-paste often. You can press this button to clear the Location Bar instead of backspacing.

Double-clicking anywhere on the address also works for me.

Easier way for... select all.

1: In address bar type about:config
2: find the value: browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll
3: Right-click select toggle
4one , url bar gets fully highlighted on first click
