Auto Kill??

I'm making a screenless MP3 box and need xmms, lircd and irxevent to automatically restart if they die for any reason.

I have found out how to make these progs/daemons restart automatically if closed but I don't know how to set it up to automatically send a kill -9 signal to them if they crash or hang.

Does anyone know how to make a script to monitor progs/daemons and send a signal to them?

Cheers,

BongFish

auto kill

BongFish, I am sorry that no one ever replied to your question. It maybe that there is or was a low demand for such a thing. I would like to know should you even see this post, did you find your answer?

I found a post from 2005 @ computing.net but might not be willing or able to try it as I need it for an account owned by a 75 year old newb user that forgets to close his games some times. So I need to add a time variable I think. Here at the link I will supply it looks to be both a work or thought in process and an actual script to deploy. No word is given how it went for the user.

God Bless,
