It seems that everyone is having problems with sound in Mandrake, and i am again a user using an AC97 sound chip onboard the mobo.

My problem, however, lies within aumix and not the drivers (Or whatever you call them in linux)

I was baffled for hors looking for a solution to my no sound in linux problem, and eventually i found that the sound was just muted. Kind of annoying. But anyway, i Unmuted everything and had beutiful sound, sounding even better off of windows ^_^.

Anyway, i booted up today and now aumix doesnt work! What should i do? Is there an alternative, (in pre compiled RPM form if possible) to aumix? Whats wrong with aumix and why is it crashing every time i start it up?

Distro: Mandrake 9.1
Sound: AC97 Onboard (Sorry cant remember which mobo)

Try "gnome-volume-control" and see if that helps. You can type it directly in the terminal . Indeed, it requires gnome

Welli have Gnome but the gnome-volume-control doesnt seem to work. Any more suggestions as to the crashing aumix?
